Allah is pleased with them according to what we find in the hadith. We hope to enter the Jannah they will enter, so we have to follow their path. As-Saabiqoon al-awwaloon….from sahabah, muhajir and Ansar and tabioon are those who follow their path till the of Jannah. There are two paths: the paths of the companions and the other path. Whoever wants to be successful has to follow their paths.
This is how we know the salafs, but what is the Quran. Quran is known but how did Allaah define the Quran himself The definition of the Quran by the Quran: Allah called it Ruh: Soul Because the soul does not enter into a thing except it gives life. Wa kadhalika awhaina ilayka ruhan min amrina. The Kuffar had bodies, ears, eyes, etc. lahum quluubun la yafqohoona biha, wa lahum, a’yunu la yubsiroona biha.
It’s state being Nur: We are faced today by different dhulumaat, doubts.
Ma kunta tadri malkitaabu walal…..wa laakin ja’alnahu nuran….nahdi bihi man-nashaa…
If you want light….you better follow the Quran
Yawma yakulu-munafiqoona…
Quran is shifaa….is a cure for disease for heart.
You know the story of the one bitten by a venomous reptile and was cured by the Quran.
You remember the dua….oh allaah make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, and the dissolver of my worries.
It’s state being Rahmah
The mercy of Allaah doesn’t not descend upon anything tight except that it widens it. It descended on the people of the Kahf and Allaah eased their affairs. If it descends on your house, tranquility will reign there.
Qad jaa’atkum mawidhatun min rabikum wa shifaa
The Quran descends on the Muslims as Rahmah but to the disbelievers and as punishment. It increases the Kuffar in sins and transgression. After speaking about salaf and the Quran, we want to know how the best people (salaf) related with the best book (Quran). If a letter comes to you from the President or a King, how do you read this letter?
The Quran is even more than that: Guidance, light, cure, and mercy. When you read the story of Musa, Yusuf, etc…do you read them like old tales and fables. You should ask yourself, what does Allaah want from me while I read
“لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ وَإِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللَّهُ ۖ فَيَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ(٢٨٤)”
سورة البقرة
When Allah revealed this verse, the salaf understood that it was talking to them. Also the verse “وَإِذْ قَالَ لُقْمَانُ لِابْنِهِ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهُ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ(١٣)” سورة لقمان
Which explains “الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوا إِيمَانَهُمْ بِظُلْمٍ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمُ الْأَمْنُ وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ(٨٢)” سورة الأنعام
When Allaah says: Allah is Alim and Hakeem. What does Allaah want from me in this Ayah? There is an understanding Allaah wants to get from you in this phrase and to know that nothing missed the knowledge of Allah
What does Allaah want you to do with the fact that he is Hakeem. It will let you seek Allaah realize that Allah will reward you for everything you do because he doesn’t forget or miss any point. You will realize that no one can plot against you. Because Allaah has a better plan in your defence. The third point is tadabbur, reflection.
Allah revealed the Quran so we can reflect on it. The lam is taa’lil: “كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ(٢٩)”
سورة ص
Allah used the word tadabbur specifically. To reflect on what is behind the verse. So that you will extract from the Quran things that you never thought. Ibn Qayyim deduced 10 benefits from surah alkaafiroon
And was able to deduce unique benefits from the Quran. Ibn Uthaymin said if you reflect on the Quran you will find new meaning that you won’t find in the books of tafsir. Then you can go ask your shaykh to clarify if this deduction is correct or not but know this deduction must be consistent with the intention of the Shari’
